You may have things that you want to do in your lifetime, but you aren’t sure about how to do them yet. Sometimes you see something on television that makes you say, “I want to do that someday,” but so often that is forgotten as life goes on. To ensure that you get the most out of this experience we call life, it is a good idea to make a bucket list.
To make a bucket list, first consider places you want to visit before you die. Don’t worry if you have the means to make the trip or not, just list the places you want to go. This can be as extensive or as brief as you like.
Next, list the things you want to accomplish. If you want to learn a foreign language or master a task, write it down. Again, this can be as extensive or as brief as you would like it to be. These are things you want to do as a means to improve yourself throughout your life.
Finally, list things you want to experience. Perhaps you want to swim in the Dead Sea or go hang gliding. Whatever it may be, this part of your list is for things that you want to do, but aren’t necessarily improvements to yourself.
Once your list is complete, revise the list to only include things that are really important to you. You may have listed many things, but some things may not be as important to you as you might think. It is good to brainstorm on the first draft and revise on the second, so you can be sure that when you are checking things off your bucket list, they are the most important things.
Finally, don’t be afraid to go through this process as often as you need to. A bucket list is like a more involved list of new year’s resolutions. As you evolve and grow, don’t hesitate to let your list grow with you, but don’t beat yourself up if things aren’t going according to your original plan. As with all things, life can sometimes get in the way, so make sure that your list isn’t only comprised of major things. A diverse list will help you stay motivated by allowing you to accomplish many things as you march through life. And always remember to have fun. A bucket list is all about getting the most out of life, especially enjoyment.
