If you’ve spent time searching for information regarding bucket lists, you’ve more than likely found information about what a bucket list is, how to write one and many, many examples of bucket lists. You can find tons of information online, including on this website.
A bucket list is a list of things that you want to do before you “kick the bucket”. This list may include places you want to visit, events you want to see or participate in, or experiences you want to have. Your list can include things that are outrageous endeavors, or goals that you want to accomplish in your lifetime. List items may be as simple as “visit the ocean”, especially if you don’t live anywhere near the ocean, or as elaborate as “become a space tourist on Virgin Galactic.” Whatever items you choose to add, your list will contain things that will be life changing and positive growth experiences.
A bucket list doesn’t always have to be a lifelong list of goals, though. Sometimes a bucket list can be created in more specific terms, like if you want to accomplish specific things before a certain age, or in a limited timeframe. In this context, you will see lists that may be titled “My 30 Things to Do Before I Turn 30 List”, “My 2013 List” or even “Summer Bucket List”.
Now that summer is here, you certainly have things that you want to accomplish or experience before the weather begins to cool and school starts again. You aren’t planning on dying anytime soon, so avoid trying to pack unrealistic items into your list, but one or two may be good. For example, you probably won’t add “see the Taj Mahal” to your list unless you are already planning a trip to India. “Playing on the beach” is a much more reasonable, realistic, and summer friendly idea to add to your list.
Be creative and add items that will not only give you lasting memories of the summer, but that will give you an opportunity to grow and maybe even give back a little. Visit a national landmark, have a summer romance, watch movies for an entire day, play volleyball at the beach, visit an amusement park, watch fireworks on Independence Day, have a backyard barbecue, go camping, see a concert, eat shaved ice, make memories. Make a list, have fun and make the most of your summer.
